Health Reform Summit Quote of the Day

“I think it requires a little bit of humility to be able to know what the American people think, and I don’t. I can’t swear I do. I know what I think. I think I know what they think, but I’m not sure what they think,” said VP Joe Biden.

Great, Yogi Berra is our Vice President.

Health Care Reform / Claire McCaskill / Health Care Debate

Why is this so hard? Congress has a great health care plan. Why don't they just give that to the rest of us?

Oh yeah, that's because they are better than us and deserve a better plan.

Health Care Debate is on.

I need me some healthcare. Pelosi's rambling opening statement is making me want to barf. I find it amazing that she can keep a straight face. No, she actually believes this.

Oh another thing....

I thought this debate was about health care. All the Dems are talking about is creating jobs with it. Creating jobs is of course, what America wants Kongress to work on. So.......let's make it sound like the health care bill solves everything!!!!!!!!!!!

BRILLIANT!!!!!

Dear God, she just evoked the name of Ted Kennedy!!!! Everyone cross themselves!!!!!

Doesn't Kongress realize that THEY are the ones that caused all of this mess?

VOTE ALL OF THEM OUT!!!

True in 85, more true now.

The 545 People Responsible for All of America's Woes
by Charley Reese

Politicians are the only people in the world who create problems and then campaign against them.

Have you ever wondered why, if both the Democrats and the Republicans are against deficits, we have deficits? Have you ever wondered why, if all the politicians are against inflation and high taxes, we have inflation and high taxes?

You and I don't propose a federal budget. The president does. You and I don't have the Constitutional authority to vote on appropriations. The House of Representatives does. You and I don't write the tax code. Congress does. You and I don't set fiscal policy. Congress does. You and I don't control monetary policy. The Federal Reserve Bank does.

One hundred senators, 435 congressmen, one president and nine Supreme Court justices – 545 human beings out of the 235 million – are directly, legally, morally and individually responsible for the domestic problems that plague this country.

I excluded the members of the Federal Reserve Board because that problem was created by the Congress. In 1913, Congress delegated its Constitutional duty to provide a sound currency to a federally chartered but private central bank.

I excluded all but the special interests and lobbyists for a sound reason. They have no legal authority. They have no ability to coerce a senator, a congressman or a president to do one cotton-picking thing. I don't care if they offer a politician $1 million dollars in cash. The politician has the power to accept or reject it.

No matter what the lobbyist promises, it is the legislation's responsibility to determine how he votes.

A CONFIDENCE CONSPIRACY

Don't you see how the con game is played on the people by the politicians? Those 545 human beings spend much of their energy convincing you that what they did is not their fault. They cooperate in this common con regardless of party.

What separates a politician from a normal human being is an excessive amount of gall. No normal human being would have the gall of Tip O'Neill, who stood up and criticized Ronald Reagan for creating deficits.

The president can only propose a budget. He cannot force the Congress to accept it. The Constitution, which is the supreme law of the land, gives sole responsibility to the House of Representatives for originating appropriations and taxes.

O'neill is the speaker of the House. He is the leader of the majority party. He and his fellow Democrats, not the president, can approve any budget they want. If the president vetos it, they can pass it over his veto.

REPLACE SCOUNDRELS

It seems inconceivable to me that a nation of 235 million cannot replace 545 people who stand convicted – by present facts – of incompetence and irresponsibility.

I can't think of a single domestic problem, from an unfair tax code to defense overruns, that is not traceable directly to those 545 people.

When you fully grasp the plain truth that 545 people exercise the power of the federal government, then it must follow that what exists is what they want to exist.

If the tax code is unfair, it's because they want it unfair. If the budget is in the red, it's because they want it in the red. If the Marines are in Lebanon, it's because they want them in Lebanon.

There are no insoluble government problems. Do not let these 545 people shift the blame to bureaucrats, whom they hire and whose jobs they can abolish; to lobbyists, whose gifts and advice they can reject; to regulators, to whom they give the power to regulate and from whom they can take it.

Above all, do not let them con you into the belief that there exist disembodied mystical forces like "the economy," "inflation" or "politics" that prevent them from doing what they take an oath to do.

Those 545 people and they alone are responsible. They and they alone have the power. They and they alone should be held accountable by the people who are their bosses – provided they have the gumption to manage their own employees.

This was written in September 1985.

Hillary Clinton comments on the painfully obvious

In my last post, I commented on the invisibleness of Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. She must have heard about it, so she made a statement about Iran and that it looks like it is turning into a military dictatorship.

http://www.cnn.com/2010/POLITICS/02/15/clinton.iran/index.html?hpt=T1

Gee, Hillary, I didn't see that coming.

Are you kidding me? This has been headed this way for a crazy long time and our Secretary of State only now says "it may be heading that way." Thanks for telling us the painfully obvious Hillary.

Just another example of our government thinking we are but a bunch of simpletons, without brains, or the capacity to think for ourselves.

News for you Hillary, you seem to be behind the times on this one. I'd bet that if a poll were taken, at least 90% of Americans came to that conclusion before you did.

Good job Hillary. Keep waisting our money.

Now that Bill seems to be doing better, why don't you do some actual REAL WORK?

Yep, Vote them OUT!!!

Looks like I'm not the only one with this viewpoint. Kongress needs to be cleaned out. Myself, I think ALL of them need to go and not keep 8%, but this story shows that I am not alone with my rage over the impotent people in Kongress.

http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0210/32893_Page2.html

And here's good news. There will no longer be any Kennedy's in Kongress.

http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0210/32893_Page2.html

Camelot. What a snow job that Americans were led to believe. Hmmm...SR made the family fortune illeagally by bootlegging booze during prohibition. JFK cheated openly on his wife. Ted got away with manslaughter. Yet, many worship this family. Maybe that is part of why America is going down the tubes. The Waltons should be the role model.

440,000 Jobs Lost In January

GREAT JOY!!!! THE ECONOMY IS TURNING AROUND!!!! Job losses in January were lower than expected by our lovely government. This, in their opinion is good news!!! LET'S REJOICE!!!!

But, let's put the Kool Aid down and think about this. Sure, less people lost their jobs than expected, but wait a second! Four hundred and forty thousand people filed for unemployment for the first time in January. 440,000. That doesn't include those that filed for it for more than their first time. It doesn't include people that haven't filed for it. Lets be conservitive and call it 500,000 people.

HALF A MILLION AMERICANS LOST THEIR JOBS AND INCOME SOURCE IN JANUARY. The government thinks this is good news and a sign that the economy is turning around. Those idiots need to be voted out.

Iranian Presidante Idiota Imanutjob has declared that Iran is now a nuclear state. Great. They launched a missle into space and are now nuclear. How long will it be before sanctions are put on this country? Our government has been talking about and talking about it and talking about it and haven't done so. Now, it may be too late. Great job guys. You're really earning your money.

People have taken to the streets in Iran to protest. Police brutality of the protesters is happening as I sit here typing about it.

How long will it take before Isreal takes matters into their own hands?

Where is Secretary of State Hillary Clinton? She is totally invisible and doesn't matter in politics anymore. Did she go to Haiti? No. Has she made a statement about Iran going nuclear? No. And I voted for her for President. Good Grief, Charlie Brown. Where is she? I'm sure the taxpayers are paying her salary, but for what?

**EDIT** I posted this before the news of Bill got out. My thoughts are with him.
